South Bend Police Athletic League (PAL) Programs
The South Bend Police Athletic League (PAL) offers free youth and adult programs for participants ages 7 through adulthood, providing a safe space for exercise and personal growth. Our programs are divided into two main components:
  1. After-School Program
  2. Summer Program

After-School Program
The After-School Program includes Boxing and Tutoring. Participants learn fundamental boxing skills while also developing essential life skills such as conflict resolution, goal setting, and leadership.
In addition to boxing, participants can receive academic support through our Tutoring Program, which provides quality assistance to help them excel in their studies.

Summer Program
The Summer Program is open to students from all school districts and offers a variety of activities, including an All-Sports Camp, Tennis, Track and Field, and Swim Lessons. The South Bend Community School Corporation hosts these programs at a local middle or high school. Breakfast and lunch will be provided to all participants.
  • All-Sports Camp: Open to participants ages 7 to 18, this program resembles a traditional school gym class. Activities include field hockey, kickball, golf, basketball, and more. Participants will develop teamwork skills and learn the importance of goal setting.
  • Tennis Program: Open to participants ages 7 through adulthood, this program teaches the fundamentals of tennis while emphasizing goal setting and effective communication.
  • Track and Field: Participants will develop speed, agility, and endurance while learning the fundamentals of sprints, distance running, relays, and field events such as long jump and shot put. The program promotes discipline, perseverance, and self-improvement, helping participants build confidence and achieve personal fitness goals.
  • Swim Lessons: Hosted by the YMCA, this program provides eight free swimming lessons for participants ages 7 to 18. In addition to learning how to swim, participants will receive basic water safety training, including assisting someone in distress. Parents are welcome to observe.
